Some Of God's Greatest Gifts....

....are answered prayers. Don't get me wrong. I like Garth's music, but there are no such things as unanswered prayers. God may say yes. He may say no. Or He may say not yet. But He always answers. For example, a few days ago, I shared with you that our refrigerator was dead. It turns out it was the compressor and the evaporator. This FRIGIDAIRE was only made in June of 2005! I had a "bun in the oven" who will only be three in September. You do the math. We have had a repairman out to the house several times within the past 2.9 years since we have owned this stupid piece of metal (that I'm very thankful for :). So, at this last visit with "D", the repair guy, he informed us that to fix our fridge it would cost $498.74...approximately:). Add that to the amount we have lost in groceries, plus the $50 we paid him to tell us this great news (sarcasm intended), you're looking at roughly between 750-800 buckaroos! So, myself, my hubby, and our family minus one went shopping for a fridge the other night. We found one to our liking, but the price tag made us both run for the bathroom with a case of nerves. We've prayed about it and asked God to help us make the right decision, but at the end of the night we decided to wait. The saleslady put the fridge on hold for us, until today, so we could decided how to pay for it.

Enter my hubby. This morning I opened my eyes to find him watching me sleep (another Garth Brooks song....). When he knew I was awake the first thing he said was......."I have good news." I'm thinking, he's going to rub it in that he's lost another 5 lbs. He's down about forty. Anywho,

he says, "I was doing some shopping around for an extended warranty on our new fridge and discovered something. In our owner's manual, in the fine print, it says that the compressor and evaporator have an extended manufacturer's warranty from the 2nd-5th year. We don't have to buy a new fridge!" Hallelujah, thank you Jesus! That was a great way to wake up and, might I add, my man was looking pretty good at that moment. So, we are not getting a new refrigerator. I have to admit, I was actually kind of excited about the LG that was to be our new appliance, but that will have to wait a little while longer.

How has God provided for you? I know you have a testimony.....I would love to hear.

What a blessing! We had an old washing machine almost burn our house down recently and went to look for a new one. We went to Lowe's because we like them, but Sears was selling washers and dryers 20% off. Lowe's agreed to cut the price of ours by 20% and we bought our new washer from Lowe's. I'm sleepy, so that's the only blessing I could think of right now, other than the fact we're blessed someone was home at the time the old washer decided to short out and start on its own.

Y'all are blessed. God is good. All the time.

Scott hit a deer Sunday morning...on the way to church...in his convertible...with both girls in the front seat, top down. (No--we are not all Britney-ish...our church is less than 1 mile from our house, and nowhere near a main road. Trust me--we live in the country.) The deer lept over the car, missing the girls' heads buy a couple of feet.

God is good. All the time.

Yes, the deer damaged the front end of the car...but the insurance people have already been here AND left a check to pay for every penny of the damage. Thanks, Lord. For protection and provision and for being good. All the time!

Hi Melissa! Thanks for stopping by today. It is very nice to "meet you!" I see a couple of my other bloggy friends are ahead of me in the comments so I take it that is how you found me. I love your layout...and I really love this post. God is sooo good and sooo faithful. You just knew he was going to provide the way. He always does...and as I sit here typing this I just realized that I had a request on my heart this morning that I keep thinking is impossible...and then you showed up...and God sent me your way to show me what I already know but He constantly has to remind...Yes, He was faithful to Melissa, and yes, He will be faithful to me, too. I can barely see through the tears right now as I type this. Thank you for being part of sending that message...literally as I type. I hope to "see" you again soon.

Thank you for all the encouraging comments. I will be so glad when our fridge is up and running again. Regular milk is soooooooo much better than powdered milk....but it works in a pinch!

Hi Melissa, you have the BEST name EVER! (It is mine, too!) Ü

I can't even count the number of times God has provided. It is continual. I have a tendency to allow fear to dictate my decisions and it seems that God's consistent effort to pound it into me that HE will not let me down is one of my life's biggest lessons. So, my journey has always been filled with reminders to TRUST HIM!

It's great to meet you! I will stop back another time. Ü

That's awesome that He provided in the way that He did!

We had told my son (he turned 6 today!) that when he learned to ride his bike with no training wheels, he'd get a new bike.
Well, we had to do some shopping for him. We couldn't find one that wasn't going to cost us an arm and leg!
Couple weeks ago my dad called me to see if I had left a bike at their house. Nope, we didn't. He proceeded to tell me that there was a brand new bike the perfect size for Owen on the porch.
Huh? Find out last week that my old grade school friend, her mom had left it there thinking the boys could use it.

Wonderful that people still think of you years later, and how He helps in such wonderful ways.

God is truly amazing. Its so wonderful how he can answer our prayers. Even if they're not answered in the way we were hoping for. It's incredible to know how much he cares for us, and that he's ALWAYS watching over us!

Good luck with the fridge! :)

God is awesome! This just happened the other day with my washer. I thought it was a goner but hubby saved the day! It made for some great bloggy material though. I have yet to figure out what some of the things he pulled from there where.

I just received a call from a friend. She is from church, so I guess God must have personally asked her to phone me.

I always love talking to her.

Great news about the frig.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't have to buy a whole new fridge. Although I can understand the want for something new.
At least that some money that can be put away for a rainy day. :-)

I love SITS for directing me to writers like you! I love your voice, and your kids are too cute. And I WAY love hearing about God's faithfulness. Thanks for sharing. I'm excited to keep popping over!

well....we have a similar situation with our MAYTAG washer, only even with the extended warranty, still cheaper to buy a new one - only we are still at the laundromat - and figuring out how to pay for the car - I am, therefore, encouraged totally to wait on God rather than panic. Panic is easier for me. Bless you.

All I know is our dishwasher repairman cost $150 just for showing up. I saw his car pull into the driveway and wished fervently I had told him the neighbor's address. Then maybe they would be legally bound to pay the "showing up fee" and we could just pay the $78 it cost to fix the dishwasher. At $228 for 10minutes of work, I'm pretty sure God answered the repairguy's prayer that day.
