While Daddy Napped.......

The Culprits: Lauren and Emily

The Victim: Unsuspecting Daddy (who was napping on the couch!)

The Crime: Kissing Walls

Okay, the pictures will tell the story, but basically, I left to pick Michael up from school and the girls stayed behind with daddy, who was VERY (his words) tired. I thought I had gotten rid of all my extra Mary Kay makeup, but apparently I forgot something. I told the girls before I left, "Go play princesses in your room." They took me very literally. Every princess needs lipstick and a prince to kiss. Unfortunately for my walls, the girls didn't ask daddy to pretend to be the prince. They didn't want to disturb him. He was napping after all. So, several of the walls in their bedroom got kissed with a nice shade called "Sweet Maple". It's a long lasting lip polish. Thank you Mary Kay.... I laughed so hard, I almost wet my britches! Eric didn't think it was near as funny! Hmmmmm, role reversal???? Walked, no napped, in my shoes for an afternoon!

Hi--thanks for stopping by my blog and reading all about tampons. What an introduction, huh? I've enjoyed reading through your posts. This particular one is adorable--now I'm just waiting for my girls to do this one day. I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

I'll be back soon...

I agree with lmrn_ny. Now, that's funny. I don't care who you are. I was just thinking that maybe you should "shrine off" that spot for posterity. At least you'll these pictures to remind them of what they did when they were kids while they are complaining to you about their kids in your grandmotherhood.

truly, your kids are artists

OMG...that is so cute! That is going to be a good picture to keep for the future!

Eeek! My 3-year-old has just discovered make-up. She sits there in front of me all glassy eyed and fascinated while I'm putting (slapping) it on in the morning. I just DREAD the day she decides to try it out.

That is great....they'll be glad to look back on that one when they are older.

I'd like to say "at least I have a son so I don't have to worry about that".....but I wouldn't put that past him....

Hello sitsa! Congrats on your day! Girls will be girls, we have to lock up makeup around here too!

Heather said...

Hee hee! I'm glad I'm not the only mom who photographs such things (in my kiddo's case, it was, thank goodness, washable markers) before cleaning up the evidence!

I trust that the walls are no longer quite so smooched, or did the long lastingness stay on forever? Hopefully a magic eraser took care of it for you! :)

Cheers!

Congrats on your SITS nod! You can't turn your back for a second, I know this well. I always know when my 4 get eerily quiet, something bad is going down, and it usually ends up requiring a Magic Eraser!!!!!

Love your blog!!!!!

Congrats on the SITS feature! Did you get it off? Lipstick is such a PITA! Very funny stuff, though!

Oh no! Hope it came off! Great post.

Yay Yay Yay it's your big SITS day! I'm so happy for you. Your blog is so fun and the best thing is its real life stuff. Now, instead of saying the walls have ears, you can say the walls have LIPS!!!

Happy SITSday!!!

I SO wish they would have kissed daddy!

Hysterically funny! Dads...this SO could have happened in my house. If I had girls. And wore makeup. :)

I'm laughing out loud at this! It could so easily be any mommy on earth, too!

Don't you love the way that daddies watch the kids with their eyes closed in a deep slumber? Too funny! Congrats on your SITS nod.

Congrats on you SITS day!

When daddies are asleep, little girls will play.... :)

Happy SITS Day!

How cute are they. I love it and I love that you were able to get a pic of a perfect pair. Frame that...LOL.

thotlady said...

Very cute. I would leave the lip prints, very decorative.

Once when I was in high school my mom put my younger brother down for a nap in my room (I can't remember why. Instead of sleeping he decided to play with my perfumed talcum powder. When I went in to check on him, the powder was all over...I mean all over the carpet, my dresser the bed...and my brother. I was so mad.

Congratulations on being the featured blogger today.

the next question... Does that call for a repaint? Maybe a neww color?

Ronnica said...

Maybe they just wanted a more grown up room. Have you seen the room decorations (probably aimed at preteens or teens) with kisses and lipstick and stuff?

Ashley. Unscripted... said...

Too cute! It's too bad Daddy didn't get kisses. THAT would have been adorable.

Threeundertwo said...

That's so funny! I would have probably kept at least one and put a little frame around it, like a handprint.

Claremont First Ward said...

So cute.......how'd you get it off the walls?

Hi Melissa!!!! You are SITS QUEEN of the day. I am so excited for you. You just won't know what hit you by the end of the day! And really, this was a brilliant post to put up and draw new friends in. Soooo sooo funny..

Don't you love that every SITSta has a story like that to share? Mine involves chocolate syrup and cheez whiz! Ha! So thankful for Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!!

sassy stephanie said...

how long did it take to get that off??!!

Dana said...

Yup, sounds like a couple of imaginative ones you've got there! LOVE the pictures. Hey, I hear that baking soda and water makes a paste as good as Magic Erasers. I LOVE magic erasers here but baking soda sure is cheaper! Give it a try.....can't hurt. I mean, I'm sure the lipstick has been cleaned up by now but keep it in mind for next time! LOL

I have been waiting for my boys to do something like this...I am a makeup junkie so I would probably cry if it did happen, but it doesn't look like they smashed the lipstick, just applied it.
So cute!

Jenni said...

I love that you laughed. That would have been my reaction. . .oh wait, that WAS my reaction when my then two year old and her little friend (a boy) tried out all the makeup in my case--on each other. They looked like clowns and my floor matched their faces!

Lisa@BlessedwithGrace said...

That is great. So glad you got pictures to tell the story.

What...Who ...Me? That's the precious look on their faces.

Why didn't they put kisses all over daddy?? Mine would have.

too cute

creative kids you've got... I like the idea that they figured out the one thing most dads would never think could happen with lipstick... napping or not

that is hilarious. how would he have felt if they'd kissed him instead?!

Daddy should be so lucky they didn't cover him in long lasting lipstick!

That is hilarious. If it were my girl when she was younger it would have been her Dad that had it all over him and she would have been very careful not to wake him up while doing it. :-)
Have a great weekend.

Although I love little girls...this picture makes me glad I have a boy!!! :) I don't know if I would be mad and at who or if I would be sitting laughing my hiney off until it came to cleaning it off...which I would have made Daddy do! :)

Great post!

Very cute! I love their expressions in the first pic... kind of like, we didn't do anything!

I woke up once to find my oldest daughter (who was 2 at the time) giving herself a new mani/pedi... pink nail polish all over her hands and feet!

Congrats!

This is too cute to be mad at. Lotsa love on those walls!!!!!

Haha! I just love kids!

Michelle said...

I love it! And I must say, from the shape of those lip prints, they do an awfully good job of putting ON the lipstick.

My husband sometimes naps when "watching" the wee ones, as well. I've asked him nicely not to (at 2 and 4, this is not smart in my book!), and now I have visual proof for him!

EmBee said...

You know, some people pay top dollar to stencil a room like this... You might just consider your daughters as aspiring interior decorators.

emily freeman said...

You should buy stock in magic eraser. I'm sure you'll need it more and more...

Hope you're having fun on your SITS day!

That is actually a very interesting idea for wall decor. I might have to steal this idea and turn it into something that works for me. :)

Anonymous said...

Congrats on the SITS feature! What a funny thing--maybe now you have ammo for something? ("Well, I'm not the one who slept while the girls...")

j said...

I would SO work those smooches into the decor. My girls were never that creative. Pen on wallpaper, that's it. But I like these smooches...on YOUR walls!

Here from SITS - and it's good for things like this to happen to them when they watch the kids...how could he be mad at those cute little wall kisses?

Laural Out Loud said...

I've learned my lesson- too many crazy things have happened when daddy's been on duty but has fallen asleep for a little nap. No more leaving the kid with a tired dad!

Unknown said...

LOL!! Cute kids.

Funny how Mums can be really tired, but still manage to stay awake!! We are definitely made of the sterner stuff. :-)

Maybe they were practicing for a future prince similar to when you are in junior high and you practice on the back of your hand. Too cute!

Here from SITS (Sorry I didn't come by yesterday). This is hilarious and makes me so thankful I have a boy... though he did his own coloring on his grandparents bed while his grandfather "watched" him with his eyes closed. When I came by to pick him up there it looked like a crime scene outline! Nice.

Britt said...

I see what I have to look forward too ... instead of poop and spit, lipstick!

I'm liking the future :o)

Though I'm wondering if (and how) you ever got it off the walls? And I'm wondering if my favorite Magic Eraser would work it's .. erm, magic? lol Too funny!
